Soap For Hope

I have to say that this is the ultimate case of God dropping something in my lap and saying "here, take care of this for me." As a soapmaker, it pleases me immensely to see people enjoy the things I make. It's even more rewarding when I see that something I've made actually helps someone. My brother Justin and his wife Olivia regularly attend and volunteer at Shades of Grace church in Kingsport. Shades of Grace is well known for their charitable work with the city's homeless and impoverished population. When I inquired about donating some soap to the church for distribution, I was amazed to learn that the church actually provides an area for the homeless to shower and freshen up! With that in mind, I really felt God saying "you can do more."

So, here we are. We're launching Soap For Hope! Our goal is to provide hygiene kits to Shades of Grace so that they can distribute them to those in need. The goal is to fill each kit with soap, shampoo, toothpaste and a toothbrush. When we break the cost of materials down if we can order in bulk, each kit will cost $5 to make. If you're interested in helping us get this project off the ground and would like to sponsor a hygiene kit for $5, you can do so online at the Vestige Market store. I will also take donations at the Kingsport location of Ink Revolution Studios. Once we've purchased our first round of supplies, we'll post as soon as the first wave of kits are delivered. 

For those of us lucky enough to have regular access to hygiene products, we really don't think about what life would be like without them. It's honestly not just about smelling nice but about warding off bacteria and germs that can lead to serious health and dental problems. For less than the cost of a fast food lunch, you can greatly reduce the chances for illness and infection in the life of a Kingsport resident.
