What a morning! After so many of you wonderful friends spread the word on Facebook and created a big social media buzz, I was contacted by Times News to do an interview about our Soap for Hope project! I was told the story should run this weekend and I'm so excited. We've already had several hygiene kit sponsorships and I'm praying that an article in the newspaper will get us enough sponsorship money to produce our first 50 kits. As I responded to the questions, I could see that this is going to be much more than just helping some folks get clean. When asked what the goals where for the project, what immediately popped into my head were the times when my young clients in particular talked about how much they hate Kingsport. On the contrary, I know that just through Friends of the Gospel, Kingsport actually touches lives all over the world. Today, it's dawned on me that it's not just soap. I make soap, and it's a simple (and kinda old lady) skill, but God can use that skill and he can use yours, too. If a handful of people see that article and say "hey, if some tattooist with no college degree can start something, then maybe I can, too." What a difference we would see in this city if people decided one day to do something as simple as stuff some toiletries in bags and give them away! When I got to work this morning, this was waiting for me: Yeah, this will be bigger than soap.
